Mary Froude
1931-2026
It is with shock and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing
of Mary (Morgan) Froude on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the Health
Sciences Centre, St. John's, aged 94 years.
Mary was predeceased by her mom in 1936; her father and step mother, Harvey and Emily Morgan; husband, Eldon in 2008; grandson, Shannon in 1992; sisters, Ethel and Madeline; and brother, George.
Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts and in shock and disbelief are her precious daughter, Beulah (Froude) Welcher, with whom she resided;
son, Lloyd (Joyce); and daughter, Dianne (Allan Wilkie);
grandsons, Brad Welcher and Brandon Welcher; granddaughters: Tammy (Froude) Beahm, Denita Broderick, and Dawn Walsh;
great grandchildren: Fallon Welcher, Atticus Welcher, Kyle White, and Ava Broderick;
sister, Marge Flight in Keswick, ON; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and circle of friends.
Mary was born in Blow Me Down, Port de Grave on August 18, 1931 and grew up in the community. She moved to Toronto in 1950 and married in Ontario. In 1952 she moved to Old Perlican with her husband and son to live and teach there until her retirement. In 2008, she and Eldon sold their home and moved to St. John's to live with their daughter, Beulah, where she resided until her death.
Even at 94 she was a little tech savvy and loved to check her facebook everyday. She loved to do her word search and watch her soaps, while the rest of the day was spent helping Beulah with crafts or with whatever was happening. Mary loved her family and loved for them to visit, especially Lloyd, who would bring her the news from around the bay.
At this time, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Emergency Department of the HSC, and the paramedics who came to transport her to the hospital. Your thoughtfulness and caring will never be forgotten.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Visitation at Hopkins' Funeral Home, Old Perlican on Friday, January 9, 2026 11:00 am. to 1:00 pm.
Funeral service to take place Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm. from Hopkins' Funeral Home Chapel, Old Perlican.
